After any white Christmas comes the dirty slush, slippery roads and walkways, and the frozen fingers that never seem to defrost.

I’ve picked up these 7 quick and easy tips over the years that will improve your quality of life during this (sometimes) miserable time of the year.

So let’s get started! Here are my 7 essential winter hacks to keep you comfortable amidst the cold.

7 Essential Winter Hacks to Comfortably Beat the Cold

Winter Hack #1: Covered Windshield

If you’re a chronically-running-late-in-the-morning person like I am you’ll understand the struggle of heading out the door just to realize you have snow or ice all over your car!

It’s a daily struggle during the colder months and I don’t know why it took me so long to do something about it, but I’m here to help you make that change now!

Winter Hack #2: Pre-Heated Bed

There’s no need to freeze at night, let your electric blanket do all of the work for you so you can focus on being comfy and cozy.

Winter Hack #3: Car Defrost is Your Best Friend

Another winter hack to make windshield-scraping season a little easier is making it a priority to start your car 5-10 minutes before you leave in the morning.

This is easy to forget, but taking a minute to run outside just before you finish getting ready will save a few precious minutes in your morning routine.

Winter Hack #4: Warm Feet

Having cold feet is an unfortunate side effect of the winter season—although I often get cold so this isn’t a winter-only problem.

They’re both great ways to instantly warm up your frozen feet.

Winter Hack #5: Heated Layers

Layering is critical to keeping warm in the winter, but there are only so many layers you can comfortably wear at once!

Trust me, a heated vest is one of the winter essentials that got me through the winter while building our home in a sweat equity program!

Needless to say, it’s a pretty powerful winter hack!

Winter Hack #6: Smart Thermostat

If you’re still using a basic, unprogrammable thermostat, it might be time to reconsider!

You can set a schedule on your phone, or even set the thermostat to maintain a slightly cooler temperature when you’re away based on your phone location.

It’s a smart winter hack that will put your gas bill dollars to work where you need them to.

Winter Hack #7: A Little Treat

Sometimes all you need to cheer you up during the darkest and coldest time of the year is a little treat.

Whether that’s a cup of hot chocolate, a delightful advent calendar, or a fun winter activity on your calendar, give yourself something to look forward to!

The winter season can be a little gloomy at times, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find ways to make it better!

Try one (or more) of these 7 winter hacks for yourself so you can enjoy the season just a little bit more.

What’s your favorite winter hack to get you through the season?
